(في المارستان ببغداد)
الجنيد : نحن الساعة في آخر الليل يا خالي فكيف ندخل هذا المارستان؟
السرى : المارستان يا بني مفتوح ليل نهار.
الجنيد : لكنا سنجد المجانين جميعاً نائمين فلن يتاح لك أن تراهم أو تسمعهم.
السرى : كلا يا جنيد بل سنجد كثيراً منهم صاحين. تعال اتبعني.. أدخل من هنا.. من هذا الباب.
الجنيد : عجباً كأنك تعرف السكان من قبل.
السرى : نعم كثيراً ما آجي هنا لا فرح عن ضيقي.
الجنيد : المعروف عنك يا خالي إنك كثيراً ما تزور المقابر وتغشى الأسواق.
السرى : أجل في المقابر أعتبر وفي الأسواق أكتسب علماً بالناس والحياة وفي المارستان أسمع الحكمة من أفواه المجانين.
الجنيد : عجباً ألا يحرس هذا المكان أحد؟
السرى : الحراس ناموا يا جنيد.
صوت : كلا أنا صاح يا هذا. من؟ مولانا السري السقطي. أهلاً وسهلاً. ومن هذا الذي معك؟
السرى : هذا ابن أختي جنيد بن محمد.
الحارس : أهلاً بك وابن أختك. أين كنت يا سيدي فلم نرك منذ زمان؟
السرى : شغلتني الشواغل يا سليمان. ترى هل عندكم من جديد؟
الحارس : كل يوم عندنا جديد. عندنا لك اليوم يا سيدي تحفة.
السرى : تحفة؟
الحارس : هذا اسمها. اسم علي مسمى. شاعرة مغنية. هلم معي إلى مكانها.. اسمع يا سيدي ماذا تقول؟

بربك كيف تحبسسني بغير جناية سبقت
تغل يدي إلى عنقي وما خانت ولا سرقت

السرى : الله الله.
تحفة :

وبين جوانحي كبد أحس بها قد احترقت

السرى : الله الله. اسمع يا جيند. أفهم يا جنيد. تذوق يا جنيد. هل سمعت قط روع من هذا الشعر؟ والله يا بني لقد كدت أشم من كبدي رائحة الاحتراق.
حنيد : أجل يا خالي ما أجمله من شعر وأصدقه. وصوتها أيضاً.
السرى : صوتها وشعرها شيء واحد. دعنا الآن ندن منها ونسألها.
الجنيد : أتراها يا خالي تفهم عنك شيئاً. إني أراها ذاهلة اللب تهذي بتلك الأبيات ولا تعي معناها.
السرى : لكنا نحن نعي معناها وبحسبنا ذلك. (يناديها) يا أمة الله. يا تحفة.
تحفة : أتخاطبني يا هذا؟
السرى : نعم.
تحفة : ماذا تريد؟
السرى : ما بالك لا تنامين مثل الآخرين؟
تحفة : أنا عاشقة يا هذا والعاشقون لا ينامون.
السرى : وماذا جاء بك إلى هذا المكان؟
تحفة : حسبوني مجنونة فحبسوني هنا.. مجانين. إياك أن تظنني مجنونة مثلهم.. أنا سكرانة؟
السرى : بالحب يا هذا إن كنت تعرف الحب. (تغني).

معشر الناس ما جننت ولكن أنا سكرانة وقلبي صاحي

لسرى : الله. الله. سمعت يا جنيد؟
تحفة :
غللتم يدي ولم آت ذنبا غير هتكي في حبكم وافتضاحي

السرى : الله. الله.
تحفة :
انا مجنونة بحب حبيب لست أبغى عن بابه من براح
فصلاحي الذي رأيتم فسادي وفسادي الذي رأيتم صلاحي

السرى : الله. الله. ما أشبه هذا بمواجيدنا أهل الطريق. من الذي تحبون يا تحفة؟
تحفة : مولاي الاول.
السرى : الله. الله. أن إذن تحبين مولاك الأول يا تحفة؟
تحفة : أجل كنت معه بأسعد مكان في روح وريحان.
السرى : الله. الله.
الجنيد : وأين هو الآن؟
تحفة : جاء مولاي الثاني فحال بيني وبينه.
الجنيد : سمعت يا خالي؟ أنها تعني مالكيها الأول والثاني من البشر.
السرى : كلا يا جنيد. مالكها الأول هو الله. ومالكها الثاني من البشر.
الجنيد : ومن هو مولاك الأول يا تحفة؟
تحفة : هو حبيبتي الذي لا حبيب لي سواه.
السرى : الله. الله.
الجنيد : ما اسمه يا تحفة؟ ما اسم حبيبك؟
تحفة : أحمد.. أحمد بن المثنى.
الجنيد : سمعت يا خالي ماذا تعني؟
السرى : ويحك يا جنيد. ليس ما تعنيه هي هو الذي يعنيني بل ما أعنيه أنا ومن أشبه.
الجنيد : الله. الله. يا خالي.. الله . الله.
السرى : إني داع الآن يا جيند فأمن على دعاني. (في ابتهال) اللهم يا مقلب القلوب أجعل قلب هذه وقفا على حبك وحدك لا شريك لك فيه.
الجنيد : آمين.

(في منزل السرى السقطي وعنده الجنيد بن محمد)
الجنيد : أراك يا خالي مهموماً اليوم على غير عادتك؟
السرى : أنسيت يا جنيد أن على اليوم أن أحضر أربعين ألف درهم لمالك تحفة ثمنا لها؟
الجنيد : متى يطلب منك الدفع؟
السرى : اليوم بعد صلاة العصر.
الجنيد : ولا تعرف حتى الآن من أين تدبر هذا المبلغ؟
السرى : لا أعرف حتى الآن يا جنيد.
الجنيد : كما دعوت لها فهداها الله إلى طريق المحبين العاشقين لجمال الله. فادع الله أن يسر لك ثمنها لتعتقها لوجه الله.
السرى : قد فعلت يا بنى.. البارحة طول الليل. الجنيد : وأخلصت الدعاء؟
السرى : نعم يا بني.. في حدود ما أعلم.
الجنيد : إذن فسيستجيب الله لك يا خالي لا محالة.
السرى : متى يا جنيد؟ ما يبقى على ميعاد الدفع غير ثلاث ساعات.
الجنيد : في ساعة واحدة يا خالي يبدل الله من حال إلى حال.
السرى : صدقت يا بني لقد ثبت بيقينك هذا ما كاد يتزعزع من يقيني.
الجنيد : استغفر الله يا خالي أين يقيني من يقينك؟ أنت شيخي وأستاذي.
السرى : كثيراً ما يتفوق التلميذ على أستاذه يا بني.
الجنيد : هل تفوقت أنت على أستاذك معروف الكوخي.
السرى : لا يا بني ولكني أرجو أن يتفوق الجنيد بن محمد علي.
الجنيد : من أجل كلمة صغيرة قلتها؟
السرى : بل من أجل اليقين الكبير الذي أرسل تلك الكلمة الصغير.
(يقرع باب المنزل)
السرى : انظر يا جنيد من الطارق؟
الجنيد : الدعوة المجابة يا خالي. إن شاء الله.
السرى : يسمح الله لك.
(يخرج الجنيد ثم يعود ومعه أحمد بن المثنى وحمال).
أحمد : السلام عليك يا مولاي الشيخ.
السرى : وعليك السلام ورحمة الله.
أحمد : يا حمال ضع الأكياس على الأرض وانصرف.. خذ.. هذا أحرك.
الحمال : شكراً يا سيدي.
أحمد : أنا أحمد بن المثنى يا سيدي الشيخ وهذه أربعون ألف درهم جئتك بها لتدفعها ثمناً لتحفة.
السرى : أنت مالكها الأول؟
أحمد : أجل يا سيدي الشيخ. ركبتني الديون فبعتها مضطراً بعشرين ألف درهم فشق ذلك عليها حتى فقدت صوابها فأرسلها النخاس إلى المارستان. وتألمت لما أصابها فاجتهدت في التجارة حتى استطعت أن أجمع عشرين ألف درهم فانطلقت إلى النخاس لاستردها منه فأبى أن يقبل مني أقل من أربعين ألفاً فكدت أيأس يا سيدي لولا أن طرق بابي البارحة تاجر فارسي كان مدينا لي بثلاثين ألف درهم فدفع لي الدين الذي عليه فلم أستطع صبراً فانطلقت صباح اليوم إلى لنخاس وقلت له خذ المبلغ الذي تريد فقاللي إنك قد سبقتني إلى شرائها منه وأنك ستحضر له ثمنها بعد عصر اليوم فقلت في نفس لعل الله ما يسر لي هذا المال على هذا الوجه إلا لأحمله إليك عسى أن تستعين به في دفع ما عليك.
السرى : أجل يا بني لقد ساقك الله عزوجل لتعينني في ذلك فليس معي اليوم ولا درهم واحد.
أحمد : الحمد لله إذ ساقني يا سيدي الشيخ لخدمتك.
السرى : لكني يا أحمد لن اشتريها لك بل سأعتقها لوجه الله.
أحمد : لا بأس يا سيدي فقد كنت أنا أيضاً أريد شراءها لأعتقها.
السرى : لعلك تريد أن تتزوجها بعد العتق؟
أحمد : نعم يا سيدي الشيخ فهل لديك من مانع؟
السرى : لا مانع عندي يا أحمد ولكني أخشى ألا تقبل هي الزواج منك.
أحمد : يا سيدي هذه كانت تحبني وما أصابها هذا الجنون إلا من أجلي.
السرى : لكن ينبغي أن تعلم يا أحمد أن قلبها قد تحول من حبك إلى حب الله .
أحمد : أجل قد بلغني ذلك يا سيدي الشيخ.
السرى : بلغك؟
أحمد : نعم وإن ذلك قد حصل لها ببركتك. ولكن ألا يجوز يا سيدي الشيخ أن تحب المرأة زوجها وربها في آن واحد.
السرى : بلى يا أحمد غير أن هذه قد أستغرقها حب الله فاخشى ألا تقبل الزواج. البتة.
أحمد : إذن يا سيدي أرضى بما قضاه الله وأسلم أمري له.
السرى : وتنظرني في الدين الذي لك علي إلى ميسرة؟
أحمد : أي دين يا سيدي؟
السرى : هذه الأربعون ألفاً.
أحمد : هذه هدية مني ولك يا سيدي الفضل في قبولها.
السرى : كلا يا أحمد لا أقبلها ألا ديناً لك على.
أحمد : فليكن يا سيدي الشيخ ما تريد.

(في المارستان مرة أخرى)
الحارس : ماذا فعلت بها يا سيدي الشيخ؟ لقد صارت لا تفارق سجادة الصلاة ليل ونهار.
السرى : الله هو الذي اصطفاها يا سليمان.
الحارس : حتى الكلام الذي تتغنى به أصبح من لون آخر.
السرى : ماذا صارت تقول يا سليمان.
الحارس : تعالوا اسمعوها بآذانكم.
تحفة :
يا من رأى وحشتي فآنسني بالقرب من وصله فانعشني
يا ساكناً مهجتي ومن عجب تضيق عنه الدنى ويسكنني

السرى : الله. الله. اسمع يا جنيد.
الجنيد : هذا يا خالي إعجاز.
تحفة :

إن تقصنى عنه غفلتي فلقد حسبي من الكون من شغفت به
وكنت في غفلة فنبهني عاد بإحسانه يقربني
وصحبه مؤنسا ويصحبني وكنت في رقدة فأيقظني

الجميع : الله. الله. الله. الله.
السرى : خبرينا يا تحفة ماذا نقلت من حال إلى حال؟
تحفة : خاطبني الحق في جناني

قريني منه بعد بعد أجبت لما دعيت طوعا وخفت لما جننت فيه
فكان وعظي على لساني وخصني منه واصطفاني ملبيا للذي دعاني ما يوقع الحب بالأماني

الجميع : الله. الله.
السرى : هلم الآن يا عبد الله المزين. هأنذا قد أحضرت لك الأربعين ألف درهم فبعني تحفة.
عبد الله : يا سيدي الشيخ لو أعطيتني الدنيا كلها ما قبلت. هذه صديقة.
السرى : ويلك ماذا تريد أن تصنع بها. عبد الله : قد أعتقها فهي حرة لوجه الله.
السرى : بوركت يا عبد الله المزين.
عبد الله : وأعتقت معها سائر عبيدي وأمائي.
السرى : طوبى لك يا عبد الله المزين. ويحك ماذا يبكيك يا عبد الله؟
عبد الله : الفرح يا سيدي الشيخ إذ عشت حتى سمعت المعارف بالله السرى السقطي يقول لي: بوركت يا عبد الله المزين. طوبى لك يا عبد الله المزين.
السرى : وأنت يا أحمد بن المثنى ماذا يبكيك أنت كذلك؟
أحمد : ما رضيني مولاي الحق لما ندبني إليه ولا وجدت لمعالي قبولاً بين يديه.
السرى : خفض عليك يا أحمد فقد تقبل الله نيتك فكأنما تقبل عملك.
أحمد : إذن فإني أشهدك يا سيدي الشيخ إني قد خرجت عن مالي هذا فهو صدقة لوجه الله البديع ولجلالة الرفيع.
السرى : ألا تستبقى منه شيئاً لنفسك يا أحمد؟
أحمد : كلا يا سيدي بل سأخرج عن كل ما بقى لي بعد من مال وأتوب على يديك وأزهد في الدنيا وأكون من مريديك.
عبد الله : وأنا يا سيدي الشيخ ما بقى لي في الدنيا من أرب فاجعلني من مريديك على ما في من جوع.
السرى : أنت يا عبد الله من المقبولين.
عبد الله : الحمد لله.
أحمد : وأنا يا سيدي الشيخ؟
السرى : أنت أمرك في يد تحفة إن شاءت قبلتك وإن شاءت ردتك.
أحمد : كلا يا سيدي الشيخ قد تجردت من كل حب إلا حب الله وحده.
السرى : أنت الآن إذن يا أحمد بن المثنى من المقبولين.
أحمد : الحمد لله.
تحفة : يا سيدي الشيخ هو الآن عندي أيضاً مقبول إن شاء.
السرى : أتحنين ما تقولين يا تحفة؟
تحفة : نعم يا سيدي الشيخ مادام قلبه وقفاً على حب الله فلن يشغلني عن حب الله.

بـيـته سوف يغتدى نـجد الستر والسكينة
لـن يـرى في عبدة بـل كـلانا من سيد
ونـصـلـى له معا مـسـكنا لي ومسجدا
فـيـه والـمـوردا أو أرى فـيـه سيدا
واحـد نرتجي لندى في سنها الحق والهدى
السرى : طوبى لك يا أحمد مرتين. أحمد : كن هذا بفضلك يا سيدي الشيخ وبركتك. السرى : بل بفضل تحفة وبركة تحفة.

Ahmed: Thanks to Allah were he sends me to help you.
Alseree: but hammed I will not buy her for you but I will make her free for Allah face.
Ahmed: that’s ok sir that's what I was going to do too.
Alserre: are you trying to married her after she is free?
Ahmed: yes sir is theirs any thing wrong

Alseree: no I got no problem Ahmed but would she marry you?

Ahmed: sir she used to love me and that's what makes her crazy because of me.

Alseree: but you should know Ahmed that her heart is turned from your love to Allah loves.
